A customer in Greater Corpus Christi reached out after noticing droppings around a garage and storage area.
They had not seen a mouse or rat directly, but they had heard scratching sounds near one of the walls. That was enough for them to know something was not right.
When I arrived, I wanted to figure out where the rodents may have been entering, where they were travelling and what was attracting them to the property.

The biggest concern was not only the droppings. The real issue was that the property had several conditions that could support rodent activity:
small gaps near the garage
cluttered storage areas
possible food access
trash areas nearby
utility openings
exterior wall gaps
quiet spaces where rodents could hide
Rodents look for food, shelter and easy access. Once they find those things, they can stay active without being seen often.

I inspected the garage, storage room, exterior walls, utility openings and the areas where the customer had noticed droppings and noises.
I looked for entry points, nesting signs, travel paths, gnaw marks and anything that could be attracting rodents.
After the inspection, I explained what I found and completed the recommended rodent control service around the key activity areas.
After the service, the customer had a better understanding of why the rodent activity was happening.
They also had a clearer plan for what needed to be fixed or monitored, especially around gaps, clutter, trash access and storage areas.
The goal was to address the current activity while also making the property less inviting for future rodents.

Here are the rodent prevention tips I shared with the customer:
store food and pet food in sealed containers
keep trash covered
reduce clutter in garages and storage rooms
check for gaps around doors and walls
keep outdoor items away from the building when possible
watch for droppings, gnaw marks or scratching sounds
seal obvious openings when safe to do so
Rodent prevention starts with making the property harder to enter and less attractive for shelter.

Rodent problems are not always obvious at first.
Sometimes the only signs are droppings, scratching sounds, damaged food packaging or small gnaw marks. Even if you do not see the rodent directly, activity may still be happening behind walls, in storage spaces or around exterior openings.
That is why I always recommend checking the source early before the issue spreads.

If you are hearing scratching sounds, seeing droppings or noticing signs around your garage, storage space, restaurant or apartment building, it is best to have the property checked.
For properties across Greater Corpus Christi, rodent issues can grow quickly when food, shelter and access points are available.
Total Pro Pest Control can help identify the source, treat the activity and provide practical prevention steps to help protect your property.
